In Search Of Cold Remedies? How often do you get a cold? When you do get a cold, what cold remedies worked for you? Colds are particularly easy to contract. There are those who get a cold so nasty that they end up suffering for a couple of weeks or more. When the cold is this severe, the affected individual will find it especially hard to function normally -- he may be unable to go to work, take care of himself or his house, do errands. Colds can prevent anyone from enjoying life and spending time with family. Colds can also cause one to get grumpy, stuffed up and dizzy. There are a number of cold remedies out there but these cold remedies are not guaranteed to work on every person. There are cold medications that can be taken, and they generally work for a short time only. Some people who take cold medications actually feel worse than before they took it. In addition, many cold medications can cause nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. These medications are not recommended for people who are driving or are watching a young child, as they can impair judgment and render them unable to function normally. Dayquil, for instance, is a rather effective cold remedy, but it can affect concentration. Nyquil, another cold remedy, is taken at night, but people who take them may experience a hard time waking up properly during the night when they need to. Then there are the "alternative" cold remedies, which may or may not really work. For instance, one such cold remedy involves boiling water, putting the water in a bowl and placing a few drops of cough drop in it. Then you lean over the bowl, cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam. There are some people who have tried this cold remedy and reported that they felt some level of relief after. |
